How to Estimate Part Weight Before Manufacturing
Step 1: Calculate the Part Volume
Measure the dimensions of your part using CAD or physical tools. Use standard volume formulas (cylinder, block, etc.). Express the volume in cm³ or in³.
Step 2: Find the Material Density
Look up the standard density of your material (e.g., 6061 aluminum = 2.7 g/cm³, 304 stainless steel = 7.9 g/cm³).
